Listen Up! went to see and hear Joel Cahen's presentation on his recent Wet Sounds installation series along side an airing of a great new composition A History of Sound Art, 12/02/2011 at Modern Art Oxford

An insightful retrospective into the craft of sound and its development as an artistic practice.

A History of Sound Art is an engaging and educational 85 min stereo audio journey from the man "more responsible than any one else for creating the modern world" Thomas Edison,"No one did more to shape the physical/cultural make up of present day civilization", by inventing the phonograph & recording, through to the winner of this years Turner Prize, Susan Philipsz.

A History of Sound Art audibly plots the development of the media through snippets of Dada & Futurist noise instruments, the first electronic music for magnetic tape, with flashes of Fluxus compositions and artist's sound-scapes.
